We believe that:
we encourage our members to attend a mid-week bible study group!
Bible study groups are the engine room of our church. It is there that we build godly relationships and
encourage one another to live out our Christianity. It is there that we also take a deeper look into the bible and listen to what God says through its pages.
We have various groups of all ages that meet in the week.
Newcomers are always welcome…. to join a group simply chat to our staff or email us on firstname.lastname@example.org
Teens in the Heideveld community faces numerous pressures. Often home and school life is difficult. We believe that God loves and cares deeply for all of us, including our teens and so we do all we can communicate God’s word to them, and to share his love with them.
We invite all Grades 7-9 to join us on Sunday mornings for a special Teen Church programme, run at the same time as the morning service.
We welcome all teens to join us for Youth every Friday evening 4-8pm. We spend time hanging out, playing games, getting to know one another better, and mostly importantly, studying the bible together.
Every year in December we join teens from all our partner churches’ youth groups at Crossword Youth Camp.
We also run a weekend away camp for our teens once a year where again we plan to have lots of fun together, with a focus on bible teaching.
We believe that God extends his love and the gospel equally to adults and children, and so we take great care to include children in our programmes. We welcome all children from the community and offer programmes for Grade R all the way up to high school.
On Sunday mornings we welcome children into the 1st part of our church service, to make sure they feel included in the family of St Thomas, and so that they can join us as we welcome one another and sing and pray together. They then leave for their own programme, which is run in the Arise building. They are cared for and lovingly taught by teachers who have been trained for this purpose.
We teach children God’s word the Bible at Sunday School. We sing, pray and provide in fun activities that reinforce the lessons taught.
Every Wednesday afternoon, all kids from Grd R – Gr 7 are welcome to join us for an afternoon of fun and games and bible lessons. Kids Club runs from 3:30pm – 5pm.
Because we want to introduce everyone to Jesus and build community, we have various ministries for our adults.
We run bible study groups in the week, which cater for specific age groups and encourages community, as we read, study and pray together.
We have a women’s ministry group who meet once a term, usually on a Saturday afternoon, around the bible and a cup of tea.
Our men also meet once a term around breakfast and the bible for the purpose of encouraging one another in the gospel.
